2 CHP Officers Hurt in Chula Vista Crash on 805 Freeway

CHULA VISTA, California (May 6, 2016) – Two California Highway Patrol Officers were injured in a traffic incident on the Interstate 805 Freeway early Friday morning, according to CBS 8 San Diego. (map)
CHP said the two officers were responding to a call of single-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of the 805 Freeway near Bonita Road around 3:15 a.m.
An article by NBC San Diego said at the same time, a man driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer combination vehicle began to hydroplane. The big rig then crashed into the patrol vehicle.
One officer complained of head and back pain while the other officer suffered neck and back pain. Both were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital.
The freeway was reportedly rain-slicked when the accident occurred.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
