Riverside bicycle and car accident

CANYON LAKE, California (July 3, 2014) — A 15-year-old boy on a bicycle suffered major injuries when he crashed with the side of an SUV in the 22800 block of Vacation Drive, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

About 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, Riverside County Sheriff’s officers reported that the teenager was riding down a steep hill when he crashed into the side of the Cadillac Escalade driven by a 59-year-old Canyon Lake resident.

Paramedics rushed the injured boy by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of critical injuries.  The young man, who was not wearing a safety helmet, suffered major head injuries. In fact, the impact was so hard the vehicle’s airbags deployed.

Riverside police are heading up an investigation into the bicycle accident.
