Driver Airlifted After Fiery Big Rig Crash on 580 Freeway in Livermore
California Highway Patrol said the accident, apparently involving two semi-trucks, occurred shortly before noon on the eastbound lanes of 580 Freeway near the North Flynn Road off-ramp.
One tractor-trailer became engulfed in flames following the collision.
As per the article, CHP affirmed that one of the drivers involved was airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
The victim reportedly suffered burn injuries in the crash. The name and the condition of the patient at this time remained unknown.
East Bay Times added that a small fire spread to nearby grass, but was then extinguished by the fire department officials shortly after 1 p.m.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
