Fatal Camp Pendleton Collision Claims Life of 1 on 5 Freeway
CAMP PENDLETON, California (May 7, 2016) – A man was killed following a collision on southbound 5 Freeway Saturday morning, according to San Diego Tribune.
The accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. just north of Oceanside between Cristianitos and Basilone Roads.
Per the San Diego Union-Tribune, the collision involved a black Toyota RAV4 and a white Range Rover.
The article disclosed that the driver of the RAV 4 was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to colliding with the Range Rover. The RAV 4 rolled over as many as 10 times before coming to a rest causing fatal injuries to its driver.
The driver of the Range Rover was injured but to an unknown degree. It was not confirmed in the report whether or not the Range Rover driver was taken to a hospital.
Per the San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal victim is only being described as a man in his 20s at this time while authorities try and locate the next of kin.
Investigators assigned to handle this incident will continue to gather more evidence as there are several factors that remain unclear.
