TURLOCK: Sukhmander Gill Killed After Big Rig Goes Off Highway 99, Crashes into Apartment Complex
TURLOCK, California (May 5, 2016) — A 65-year-old truck driver identified as Sukhmander Gill was killed Thursday morning when his big rig truck veered off Highway 99 and crashed into the Avena Bella apartment complex, as per The Fresno Bee.
The crash took place at 9:58 a.m. on the 99, just west of Lander Avenue. A nearby resident called 911 to report the crash and told authorities the semi-tractor trailer truck came off the freeway and crashed into the complex where it possibly hit someone at the apartment.
Police say the truck crashed through a covered parking lot at the apartment complex at 500 West Linwood Avenue and also struck a white pickup truck.
Paramedics responded to the scene to help a man who was in the white Toyota Tundra pickup truck who suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.
