John Romero, 66, Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run on East Avenue
FRESNO, California (May 7, 2016) – A 66-year-old Fresno man identified as John Romero was killed in a hit-and-run collision in an industrial area Thursday night on East Avenue, according to The Fresno Bee. (map)
The incident was reported around 9:15 p.m., near the railroad, north of Florence Avenue and east of the highways 41/99 interchange.
As per the article, police said Romero was found lying in the roadway unresponsive, next to his overturned wheelchair and several drink containers and plastic car parts. He was believed to have been struck by a driver who then fled the scene.
Romero was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Meanwhile, detectives affirmed that the suspect vehicle drove southbound on East Avenue following the crash. It was described as a single cab, short bed truck, possibly a Ford.
