Detective Rear-ended by DUI Driver in Manteca at Yosemite and Commerce Avenues
MANTECA, California (May 15, 2016) – A Manteca detective sustained injuries after his vehicle was struck by a DUI driver at Yosemite and Commerce avenues near Highway 99, according to an article by Manteca Bulletin.
The accident happened on May 12 at around 9:20 p.m.
As per the report, the detective stopped at a red light signal at the corner of the avenues. The detective was waiting for the eastbound traffic light to turn green when his vehicle was suddenly hit from behind by a Chevy pickup truck.
The force from the impact resulted in the detective complaining of pain and suffering in minor injuries. He was immediately given medical treatment by the attending paramedics.
Officers responded to the crash site and identified the suspect as 30-year-old Julian Ayala. Ayala was arrested at the scene for DUI, hit and run, resisting arrest, and driving on a suspended license.
