PERRIS: Bicyclist Roger Villegas Killed in Truck Crash on 4th Street

PERRIS, California (April 21, 2016) — A 54-year-old man riding a bicycle against traffic was struck by a work truck on 4th Street Wednesday afternoon and later died of his injuries, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash took place about 4:43 p.m. yesterday. The Perris Police Department reported the bicyclist was riding in the wrong direction on the roadway when he was hit by the truck driver. Paramedics rushed the injured man to a local hospital, but he later died of his injuries at the hospital.
The truck driver was questioned by police at the scene about the crash. An investigation is underway by the Perris Traffic Reconstruction Unit to determine liability. The roadway was closed down between A and C streets for the investigation.
