Rea Family Daycare Employee Jacob Blas Arrested on Sexual Abuse Charges
LAKE ELSINORE, California (April 29, 2016) — Jacob Blas, 20, of Lake Elsinore was arrested on sexual assault charges involving a minor at the Rea Family Daycare where he lived and worked., the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
The Lake Elsinore Police Department booked Blas into the Southwest Detention Center and are heading up an investigation into the incident with assistance from Child Protective Services and the Department of Social Services. His bail was set at $3 million, but later raised to $5 million at the request of the the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
UPDATE: Blas pleaded not guilty to all charges on Monday, May 2 in Riverside County Superior Court.
Detectives stated the alleged sexual abuse incidents took place between January 2014 and January 2016 and involved a minor who was under the care of this licensed daycare facility located at a single family private residence on Bella Aliza. Blas is charged with five counts of alleged oral copulation or sexual penetration involving the child who is under 10 years old.
Parents of children who have attended the day care facility over the past several years are asked to speak with their children and reach out to police if there is anything that may help in their investigation or if they suspect their child was also a victim.
