SAN BERNARDINO: Man, 34, Killed; Suspected DUI Driver Rudy Guzman Arrested

Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Harrison Road

SAN BERNARDINO, California (June 17, 2015) — A 34-year-old man pushing a shopping car in the 2300 block of Harrison Road was killed in a suspected DUI hit-and-run car accident Monday night and police have arrested the suspect who fled, the San Bernardino Police Department said.

Rudy Guzman, 69, of San Bernardino was driving a 2006 Chrysler van on Harrison Road when he struck the pedestrian and then fled the scene about 8:52 p.m. on June 15. As he drove off, Guzman drove through a red traffic light at Highland Avenue and upon entering a Perris Hills parking lot he crashed into a parked vehicle and then struck a tree, police said.

Guzman was arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter as well as other possible charges and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $250,000 bail.
