Woman Eating Burrito Causes Rollover Injury Crash on 10 Freeway at Indian Canyon Drive
PALM SPRINGS, California (March 10, 2015) — A distracted driver trying to eat a burrito behind the wheel caused a major-injury crash Tuesday morning.
Two people were injured when one driver struck two cars causing one of them to overturn on the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway, just east of Indian Canyon Drive at mile marker 33, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 7:11 a.m., CHP officers responded to a call involving a person who was trapped after a pickup truck overturned multiple times on the freeway. The white 1999 Ford F250 pickup truck was reportedly struck by a woman in a 2009 Nissan Altima who was allegedly eating a burrito and crashed into the driver. The driver of the pickup truck became trapped when the vehicle landed on its side. He suffered major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment.
Lucero Perez of Mecca who was driving the Nissan also struck Eva Uriostequi, 43, of Redlands who was in a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. Perez suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The collision also knocked out about 10 feet of guardrail in the center divider of the freeway.
Police will investigate the cause of the crash and issue a report determining liability.

It’s difficult to negotiate a fair settlement from the insurance company on your own.
Most insurance companies will examine the facts of your case to determine what they believe is a fair settlement. One of the factors that determines the value of your case is how much insurance you and the other involved parties have purchased as coverage.
Additionally, the extent of your injuries, property damage and how much time you have lost from work will factor into the value of a case. There may also be more than one person liable for your injuries and this can increase the value of a claim. When a driver is working for a commercial establishment or they are a government employee, this brings in a second responsible party.
Johnson Attorneys Group will gather all the relevant facts in pursuit of justice on your behalf. We want you to get better and get a fair settlement.
