Truck Runs Red Light, Hits Car on State Route 156, Bolsa Road
HOLLISTER, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2018) – A semi tractor trailer truck allegedly ran through a red traffic light and struck a vehicle Wednesday on the eastbound 156 at the southbound 25, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 11 a.m. this morning between a white Toyota Corolla and the blue or gray big rig truck. A witness by the name of Amanda told police the trucker ran the red light causing the crash. Another witness named Laurette told police the trucker was honking his horn and was possibly unable to stop. It’s unclear whether or not the brakes were faulty or if speed were possibly a factor.
The truck jackknifed at the intersection and was blocking the right lane. The driver in the white sedan was trapped in their vehicle.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and will determine liability.
HOLLISTER ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Indeed, truckers are behind the wheel of massive vehicles that require regular maintenance and inspections as a condition of driving on our busy roadways. If a trucking company failed to maintain a commercial vehicle such as this one and it caused a collision, they may be held liable.
The truck driver could also be held accountable for his actions, particularly if he was speeding and couldn’t slow down in time to stop. If a person is injured in a collision with a commercial truck driver, it’s important that they take steps to protect their legal rights and ensure they are fairly compensated for all their losses including medical bills, property damage and lost wages.
