Woman, 19, Hurt in Crash on I-8, Rosecrans Street
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 29, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle accident on the Interstate 8 Freeway happened Saturday afternoon, just west of Rosecrans Street in the Midway District of San Diego.
The deadly crash occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on April 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man riding a motorcycle with a 19-year-old female passenger was heading eastbound on the I-8 Freeway and reportedly splitting lanes.
The motorcyclist collided into the back of a stopped Ford pickup truck and or a dump truck due to heavy traffic.
Upon impact, the motorcyclist and his passenger were both ejected from the bike and thrown into the roadway. The man sustained major injuries and died at the scene, but the woman survived with major injuries. Paramedics transported the injured woman to a local hospital, police said.
Meanwhile, the 59-year-old Murrieta man was questioned by police about what happened and he cooperated with the investigation.
Authorities are working to determine if drugs and or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Witnesses are asked to contact the California Highway Patrol.
