10 Injured Van Overturns in North Hollywood Crash on 170 Freeway

8 Children, 2 Adults Hospitalized in San Fernando Valley Collision

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (April 14, 2026) — An injury crash involving a single van carrying eight children and two adults happened Monday on the southbound 170 Freeway near Sun Valley in the North Hollywood area.

The incident occurred on April 13th near Whitsett Avenue during heavy traffic through the area, with the van reportedly spinning out on the slick roadway.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, there were eight children and two adults evaluated at the scene, and all were transported to nearby hospitals in fair condition as a precaution.

Aerial footage from the scene showed firefighters assisting several people while multiple ambulances lined the freeway. Authorities closed the three left lanes following the crash, leading to a buildup of traffic in the southbound lanes.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
