12 Injured in SUV Rollover Crash I-5 Freeway in Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY, Calif. (July 6, 2026) — An SUV loaded with five adults and seven children overturned on the I-5 Freeway early Saturday near Sheldon Street in Sun Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) the collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. on July 4th in the San Fernando Valley.
The group was traveling northbound on the freeway in a Chevrolet Suburban SUV when it crashed into a center median. The SUV overturned onto its roof on the side of the freeway and several people were ejected into the roadway, the CHP reports.
All twelve people were rushed to local hospitals with mostly minor injuries, but one person was treated for serious injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, but drugs and or alcohol were not believed to be a factor.
