Metropolitan Transit System Trolley Crash Involving Truck
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2024) — Seventeen people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a truck versus Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Trolley accident at Industrial Boulevard and L Street in Chula Vista.
The two-vehicle crash occurred around 4:34 p.m. on Nov. 5th, according to the Chula Vista Fire Department.
A driver in a silver pickup truck reportedly broadsided a northbound Blue Line trolley at the Chula Vista intersection.
The pickup truck driver and two others who were riding on the trolley were critically injured in the crash on the Blue Line.
Paramedics responded and rushed multiple people to a hospital.
The cause of the crash and liability is unknown at this time, however, residents who live nearby say collisions happen here frequently.
