The crash, which took place about 8:10 a.m. this morning in Rancho Penasquitos, caused serious injuries. A 43-year-old man driving a flatbed Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound on Carmel Mountain Road. Police say he became distracted and drove through the red traffic light, hitting a Toyota Corolla that was heading southbound on Sparren Avenue and had a green arrow to make a left-hand turn.
Paramedics responded to help those who were injured including the driver of the Chevrolet who suffered multiple internal injuries. HE was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, but is expected to survive.
The crash remains under investigation by police to determine fault.
It’s difficult to determine who is at fault for an accident without a full investigation by police. They will interview all involved parties, witnesses and pour over the facts and evidence at the scene to make their determination. It’s helpful to have an independent investigation into a collision if you were hurt and believe another person is responsible. A qualified personal injury lawyer can help.
