Work Truck Crashes off 10 Freeway into Canal
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (June 13, 2018) — A truck driver and his passenger were killed in a collision involving a big rig truck and a white work truck early Wednesday morning on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported to CHP officers about 6:48 a.m. this morning at the Interstate 215 Freeway interchange. The white work truck reportedly fell through the center divider gap off the freeway and landed in a canal. Two people in the vehicle died at the scene of the crash.
A big rig truck was also involved, but it’s unknown at this time whether the two vehicles collided. A wooden log that was on one of the vehicles involved also crashed into the windshield of a blue Honda CRV, but the woman driving was not injured. One of the vehicles caught on fire and sparked a brush fire in the area.
Police issued a SigAlert for the crash about 7 a.m. as both east and west lanes were closed for an unknown duration.
