SOUTH LOS ANGELES, California (April 18, 2016) — Two people were hospitalized Sunday night after their minivan was struck by a hit-and-run driver at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver of a car crashed into the maroon or red minivan and fled the scene, but witnesses followed the driver and were able to help police place the person under arrest.
Firefighters responded to the intersection and used the Jaws of Life to extricate one person who was trapped in the minivan who suffered serious injuries. Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police have the collision under investigation and will determine what charges will be filed against the hit-and-run driver, but victims of a collision such as this one may also file a civil lawsuit.
