SAN DIEGO COUNTY, California (December 31, 2016) – Two were hospitalized, a boy seriously injured, in a traffic collision near Lake Hodges Thursday morning, according to UT San Diego.
The accident involving two vehicles occurred about 10:30 a.m. on Del Dios Highway near Camino De Estrella.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 2004 Ford van was stopped on the right shoulder of eastbound Del Dios Highway when its 68-year-old San Diego male driver made a U-turn onto westbound lanes.
The van then hit 1995 Volvo sedan headed west at the time. The car was forced about 15 feet down an embankment.
CHP said the 48-year-old San Marcos woman driving the Volvo suffered injuries to her neck and back. A passenger, an 11-year-old boy, sustained a broken arm. Both were transported to a hospital.
Three other occupants, boys ages 8, 11 and 13, were unharmed.
Meanwhile, the motorist in the van suffered a cut to his neck but was not hospitalized. The van belonged to a plumbing company.
The incident is still under investigation.
