LAKE PIRU, Calif. (May 31, 2018) — Two people were injured Thursday morning when a white Volkswagen veered off Piru Canyon Road and went 300 feet down an embankment near Lake Piru, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 9:49 a.m. this morning. Rescue workers with the Ventura County Fire Department, Los Padres National Forest, Fillmore and Los Angeles County fire departments responded.
A woman who was a passenger in the car suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Ventura County Medical Center for further treatment. The second person suffered minor to moderate injuries and was helped up the embankment by emergency workers.
Lake Piru Accident Investigation
Police are investigating this collision to determine the cause and liability. At this time, we do not know what led to this crash and ultimately who is responsible. It appears to be a solo collision, but we do not know if a dangerous road condition was a factor.
