SANTEE, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2023) — Two people were injured early Wednesday in a crash at Magnolia Avenue and Prospect Avenue in Santee.
The collision occurred about 6:05 a.m. on Feb. 8th, according to 911 Video News. A man driving a silver car was heading southbound on Magnolia Avenue and reportedly ran through a red light. The car crashed into the eastbound white Ford Super duty pickup truck as it entered the intersection of Magnolia and Prospect avenues on a green light.
During the crash, the pickup truck landed on top of the car’s front-end and crushed it. The smaller car was essentially totaled in the crash.
Both drivers involved were injured in the crash. The pickup truck driver was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. Meanwhile, firefighters spent roughly 35 minutes working to free the man trapped in the car. A helicopter airlifted him to a trauma center for treatment of major injuries.
Authorities closed down the eastbound lanes of Magnolia Avenue as well as the southbound Prospect Avenue to conduct a full investigation.
