2 Men Killed, Teen Hurt in Riego Road Crash
SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2018) — Erica Marie Bair, 47, of Yuba City, and Steven Douglas Buehler, 53, of Roseville, both died in a 3-vehicle collision Monday afternoon on Highway 99.
The collision was reported about 4:23 p.m. on Dec. 17. The Yuba City woman was driving a Hyundai Tuscon eastbound on Riego Road when it drifted to the right shoulder and then veered into oncoming vehicles on the westbound side of Highway 99. The Hyundai collided with a Toyota Corolla driven by Buehler and a Ford F350 driven by Brycen Benedict, 18, of Oroville.
Brycen Benedict Injured in Riego Road Crash
Benedict, whose pickup truck suffered major damage, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Rideout Medical Center.
However, the Buehler and the Bair both suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Their vehicles came to rest in the middle of Riego Road.
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash. It appears that based on the facts we know so far that the driver in the Hyundai was responsible.
