2 Dead in Apple Valley Crash 15 Freeway
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2018) — An 11-year-old child and a woman were killed and three were injured in a solo-vehicle rollover crash Sunday night that briefly shut down the Interstate 15 freeway.
The crash took place about 9:41 p.m in the southbound lanes of the freeway, just north of Hodge Road.
The 2002 Toyota SUV reportedly rolled over multiple times and the boy who died was ejected. Paramedics rushed to the scene where the white 2002 Toyota Sequoia was on its roof with major damage.
These two people were confirmed dead at the scene, a third person was in critical condition and two more suffered less serious injuries.
A helicopter landed on the freeway to airlift the person with major injuries to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Two other occupants were transported by ground ambulance to the same trauma center. Police say the driver of the Toyota was a 44-year-old Los Angeles man.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation.
Apple Valley Crash Investigation
The collision remains under investigation by police to determine fault. The driver is likely to be held accountable, but it’s unknown if there are other responsible parties such as an employer or if a mechanical condition or dangerous road contributed to the crash.
Our condolences go out to the families of those who died and prayers to the injured in hopes of a full recovery.
There are many steps that should be taken following a collision to ensure your legal rights are protected, but this can vary depending on the circumstances.
An injured person should seek out immediate and ongoing medical care until they are completely better. If someone has died, a wrongful death claim may be pursued by surviving family members against those responsible and or their insurance company.
