Deadly, Head-on Collision on I-5 Freeway Near Los Banos
MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2024) — At least two people died early Wednesday in a head-on crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Highway 152, just west of Los Banos in Merced County.
The deadly collision occurred around 1 a.m. on Oct. 30th in the southbound lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a driver in a Honda was heading northbound on the I-5 when for unknown reasons they crossed over the median and crashed into a box truck.
Both of the vehicles caught on fire after the collision.
Paramedics responded and pronounced at least two people dead following the wreck.
Finally, investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal crash in Merced County.
