2 Killed in Pedestrian Accident Wilshire Boulevard in Westlake
Isaiah Villegas Arrested on Vehicular Manslaughter Charges
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov. 20, 2023) – A 63-year-old woman and her adult son were both killed during a pedestrian accident involving a suspected DUI driver on Wilshire Boulevard in the Westlake area.
The deadly, high-speed crash occurred at around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and MyNewsLA.
The woman and man were both standing near the intersection when a suspected drunken driver traveling eastbound in his 2008 Cadillac CTS lost control of the vehicle and hit them both. The driver also crashed into a light pole at the southeast corner of the intersection. The motorist exited his vehicle and fled on foot, but was located roughly a block from the crash site.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded to help the two victims, but the Elio Bautista, Jr., 33, of Los Angeles, died at the scene and his mother died at the hospital.
Police arrested Isaiah Villegas, 31, of Los Angeles, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter charges and his bail was set at $110,000, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators believe that both speed and alcohol were factors in the pedestrian accident on Wilshire Boulevard.
