Driver, Passenger Killed in Crash on Highway 166
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2021) — Two people were killed Monday afternoon in a Santa Maria crash on Highway 166, just west of Wasijoa Road.
The crash happened about 1:31 p.m. on Nov. 29th when a car went off the roadway and into a field, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
There was possibly a second vehicle involved in the deadly Santa Maria crash.
Highway 166 Crash at Wasijoa Road
A driver and passenger in a blue Honda CRV were located in the overturned vehicle in a field just north of Highway 166, CHP officials said.
Both people died at the scene of the crash, according to CHP.
Investigators are looking into whether a second vehicle collided with the Honda and fled the scene. CHP officials say the suspect’s vehicle is a dark-colored 2000s model with four doors (possibly gray or black) and it had orange and black racing stripes on the trunk as well as the side of the car.
