The crash occurred at the cross streets of Pacific Coast Highway and Cherry Avenue at precisely 12:16 a.m.
Per the Press-Telegram, a 63-year-old man identified as Theodore Sims, of Long Beach, was heading eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway before executing a sudden left turn directly into the path of Jean Bidondoyore, 18, of Palos Verdes.
Both Bidondorore and his passenger suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the emergency room with very serious injuries. They remain in the hospital in critical condition.
Sims was arrested at the scene after it was determined he had been under the influence.
