CANYON COUNTRY, Calif. (June 13, 2023) — A 26-year-old driver was arrested Sunday after a two-vehicle crash at Jason Drive and Flynn Drive in Canyon Country.
The collision occurred on Sunday, June 11th at the Canyon Country intersection in front of the Princessa Estates condominiums, according to The Signal.
One of the vehicles, a white 4-door sedan occupied by the 26-year-old man and a child, also crashed into a fire hydrant, the report said.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station sent paramedics and firefighters, but prior to their arrival a bystander, Shawn Spencer heard the crash and came to rescue the man and child from their vehicle. The car was on top of the hydrant and its back end was suspended in the air by water spouting from the fire hydrant.
Spencer, an off-duty nurse, managed to help the driver out of the white sedan and then was able to climb into the car and rescue the child from the back seat.
Police arrested the driver of the white sedan on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, it’s unknown if there were any injuries in the second vehicle.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash on Jason and Flynn drives.
