2 Critically Injured Electrical Equipment Explosion
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 25, 2021) – Two workers suffered major injuries Thursday after an explosion involving electrical equipment in downtown Los Angeles.
The incident happened about 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 25th near West 3rd Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Workers Injured in Flower Street Explosion
Firefighters responded to the 300 block of South Flower Street where they found two critically injured men, according to the LAFD.
The men were reportedly private contractors working at the location. They were both transported to a hospital for treatment, officials said.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion involving the electrical equipment. This was at or near a loading dock at the facility. The report did not mention what type of facility the men were working in, nor what led to the explosion.
Fire officials notified the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. A full investigation into the circumstances is underway.
