20 Injured in Lancaster Bus Accident at Sierra Highway and Avenue C

LANCASTER, Calif. (July 2, 2025) – Twenty people were injured when a Kern Transit bus overturned after crossing railroad tracks Wednesday morning on Avenue C and Sierra Highway in Lancaster.
The bus accident occurred in the 49900 block of Sierra Highway around 11:17 a.m. on July 2nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The bus was reportedly traveling along Sierra Highway when for unknown reasons it veered off the roadway, drove onto an embankment and crossed over the railroad tracks before it overturned.
Numerous ambulances responded and one medical helicopter transported an injured 8-year-old boy with serious injuries.
Paramedics and firefighter crews treated at least 20 patients for various injuries and one was listed in critical condition.
The crash resulted in damage to the railroad tracks used by Metrolink and Union Pacific trains.
