Tour Bus Crash on 10 Freeway in Downtown LA
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 16, 2018) — More than two dozen people were injured when the tour bus they were riding in crashed into sand-filled buffers and then a concrete bridge abutment and overturned early Saturday morning on the Interstate 10 Freeway in downtown, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The collision took place about 4 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway near the 110 Freeway interchange. The tour bus, which was carrying 32 passengers, was headed to Koreatown. The passengers had been visiting the Pala Casino in San Diego County.
Paramedics responded and rushed 25 people to hospitals. Four people suffered the most serious injuries. Five others were in fair condition and 16 were in good condition, fire officials said.
Bus driver Dack M. Lew, 53, was questioned by investigators about what happened, but so far there have been no arrests made. It’s unknown if those who were hurt were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
