3 Hurt in Car Accident on Mateo Street Near 7th Place in Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 2, 2025) — Three people were injured Monday morning in a car accident on South Mateo Street, between 7th Place and Bay Street in downtown Los Angeles.

The two-vehicle collision occurred around 07:27AM in front of 823 S. Mateo Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department press release.

The circumstances leading up to the collision are unknown at this time.

1 Trapped in Wreckage of Crash on Mateo Street

One of the three injured was trapped in the wreckage and freed by arriving firefighters, the report said.

Authorities closed down Mateo Street between 7th Place and Bay Street to allow emergency responders to do their work. Detours were in place as of press time.

The investigation is underway by the LAPD Central Traffic Division for Incident #1036.
