1 Hospitalized After Crash; 2 Minor Injuries
PALM DESERT, Calif. (May 25, 2018) — A collision between a dump truck and a passenger vehicle Friday morning left three people injured at Varner Road and Avenue 38, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision took place about 7:11 a.m. this morning at the intersection.
One person was trapped in a vehicle, prompting a response by emergency personnel from the Riverside County Fire Department as well as police.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut open a vehicle and rescue one person who as trapped in a vehicle and they airlifted the person to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Two others had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
During the collision, a power pole was knocked down and police had to close the roadway temporarily to address the problem.
Riverside County Accident Investigation
Police are investigating this collision to determine fault. At this time, it appears two drivers were involved and one or both may be responsible. We don’t know all the details, but there may have been fault among both parties. Some of the questions police may have include whether or not either of the drivers were reckless, distracted or disobeying traffic rules of the road.
