CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, California (November 29, 2016) – A Thanksgiving dinner at Antioch’s American Legion Hall allegedly killed three people and sickened 17 others, according to Suisin City Patch.
As per Contra Costa Health Services, at least eight victims were taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center at various times between Friday and Saturday. They were admitted with apparently food-borne illnesses.
Sutter Health officials affirmed that three of the patients died. Four parties were treated and released while the fifth person remains hospitalized.
The deceased victims were identified in KCRA as 43-year-old Christopher Cappetti, 59-year-old Chooi Keng Cheah, and 69-year-old Jane Evans.
San Francisco Gate wrote that two more people reported feeling sick after the taking the meal.
Meanwhile, it was not immediately known what organization was responsible for the incident. Contra Costa Health Services added that it was a non-profit group serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal to roughly 835 people.
The cause of the deaths and illnesses remains under investigation.
