 3 Killed Fontana Wrong-way Crash on I-15 Freeway, Sierra Avenue 3 Killed in Fontana Crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway

FONTANA, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2022) —  Three people died Monday night in a wrong-way driver crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway in Fontana.

The fatal Fontana crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 24th, just south of Sierra Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver in a car was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the I-15 Freeway. The vehicle collided with another motorist, leaving two people trapped inside a black Honda fully engulfed in flames.

Paramedics responded and pronounced a man and woman from the car dead at the scene, the CHP said.

Also, a woman became trapped inside a maroon Kia hatchback and died at the scene, KTLA 5 News reports.

Authorities are working to determine which driver was traveling in the wrong direction.

Police issued a SigAlert and closed down the freeway for several hours to investigate the Fontana wrong-way crash.
