Deadly Crash on Highway 1 Near Tom Lantos Tunnels
SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (July 29, 2024) — Mohammad Noory, 29, Angelica Gacho, 28, and Brylyn Aroma, 36, died Friday after their vehicle went over a cliff at Devil’s Slide in San Mateo County, California.
The traffic accident occurred on Highway 1 around 11:40 a.m. on Friday, July 26th when for unknown reasons a gray, two-door sedan went off the roadway and down the cliff, just south of the Tom Lantos Tunnels, SF Gate reports.
Police and emergency responders came to help the occupants in the vehicle, but confirmed two dead on the scene and a third was located on Saturday outside of the vehicle.
The victims were later identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s office as Mohammad Noory, 29, of South San Francisco; Angelica Gacho, 28, of South of San Francisco; and Brylyn Aroma, 36, of Fort Riley, Kansas.
Police closed down Highway 1 in both directions due to the investigation and recovery, but it reopened on Saturday the following day.
The deadly Highway 1 crash at Devil’s Slide remains under investigation.
