 3 Killed in Head-on Crash on Highway 46 in Shandon Identified

Victims of Deadly Crash Hit by Wrong-Way Driver

SHANDON, Calif. (August 1, 2024) — Three people who died Sunday in a collision with a wrong-way driver on State Route 46 in Shandon have been identified.

The victims were among four people riding in a 2022 Honda. They were identified as the 24-year-old driver, Rosalinda Bucio from Cutler, and her passengers, Francisco Polinasainz, 27, of Reedley, and Yvette Guzman, 32, of Sanger, the Fresno Bee reports.

The sole survivor from the Honda was Carlos Quinonez, 28, of Orange Cove. Paramedics transported him to Sierra Vista Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

Carlos Quinonez was one of three injured in the crash involving three vehicles at around 10:28 p.m. on July 28th, near West Centre Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Head-on Crash Highway 46 in Shandon

Saundra Foutz, 30, of Paso Robles, was driving a 2021 Mercedes westbound in an eastbound lane of Highway 46 before colliding head-on with the victims in the eastbound 2022 Honda, according to news reports. Next, a second Honda, which was traveling behind the first one, crashed into the 2022 Honda.

Meanwhile, Saundra Foutz survived with major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

Jess Lopez, 38, of Bakersfield, who was driving the second Honda, survived with minor injuries and was treated only on scene.

Investigators determined that alcohol and or drugs were not a factor in the deadly Shandon crash on Highway 46.

The case remains under investigation.
