Deadly Collision at 17th and Kansas Avenues in Lemoore
KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2025) – Three people were killed in a crash Saturday night at 17th Avenue and Kansas Avenue in Lemoore between a car and a semi-truck.
The California Highway Patrol reported the collision occurred around 11:43 p.m., on Jan. 25th, 2025, in Kings County.
A man driving a 2017 Toyota Camry with four passengers was headed southbound on 17th Avenue and a man driving a 2020 Peterbilt 579 truck was eastbound on Kansas Avenue.
The two motorists were approaching the intersection at the same time.
However, police say the driver of the Camry didn’t yield the right-of-way to the truck driver and collided with the semi-truck.
The truck driver crashed into the passenger side of the Camry, causing the car to veer off the roadway and crash into a metal pole.
Two people who were riding in the back of the car died at the scene, a third passenger from the backseat died at the hospital and the fourth passenger from the front seat was treated at the scene and released.
The three rear-seat passengers were reportedly not wearing their seatbelts.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Camry survived the collision and was transported to a hospital and treated for moderate injuries.
There were no injuries reported by the truck driver.
Finally, investigators are working on the case and will determine if any charges will be filed.
