PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2023) — David Losacco, 29, Millicent Lewis, 29, and Yovani Aguilar Tapia, 32, were identified as the three people killed Sunday in a Palm Springs car crash on Gene Autry Trail.

The deadly crash occurred around 2:48 p.m. on Sept. 3th over the busy Labor Day weekend, roughly a half mile from Via Escuela, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

The three people, all from Escondido, were traveling together in a vehicle at a time when there was blowing sand and low visibility, according to the Desert Sun.

There are few details about what happened, but all three people died at the scene, the coroner reports.

Meanwhile, roughly an hour and a half after the deadly crash, the city closed down Vista Chino due to the blowing sand and visibility around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, the Desert Sun reported.

The cause of the crash on Gene Autry Trail, as well as liability, remains under investigation.
