Fatal Accident at Piedmont Intersection
PIEDMONT, Calif. (Nov. 27, 2024) — Three young people died early Wednesday in a solo crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck at Hampton Road and King Avenue in Piedmont.
The traffic collision occurred around 3:24 a.m. on Nov. 27th, in Alameda County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported police and firefighters responded to the scene and located the Cybertruck jumped the curb and crashed into a retaining wall and a tree. A second car traveling from the same function as the Cybertruck occupants stopped and pulled one man from the front of the truck. However, the other three people were deceased in the fully-burned-out electric vehicle.
Paramedics transported the surviving young man to the hospital with major injuries including severe burns. He also underwent surgery at the hospital.
The occupants were reportedly friends who were graduates of Piedmont High School in 2023. They were all home from college for the holiday weekend. The three who died were later identified as Soren Dixon, Jack Nelson, and Krysta Tsukahara.
Meanwhile, authorities requested the coroner respond and a tow truck removed the vehicle for evidence.
Investigators are working on the case to determine what led to the crash on the Hampton Road in Piedmont.
