3-Vehicle Apple Valley Crash on Bear Valley Road, Mohawk Road

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (August 21, 2026) — Four people were injured Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash on Bear Valley Road and Mohawk Road in Apple Valley.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred around 8:11 p.m. on August 19, 2026, according to the Apple Valley Department.
Detectives working on the case determined Gary Nesbitt, 27, of Apple Valley, was driving a 2010 BMW sedan westbound on Bear Valley Road. Authorities say he veered out of his traffic lane and struck a stopped 2017 Ram pickup in the eastbound turn lane at Mohawk Road.
Whalen Zumwalt, 24, of Hesperia, was behind the wheel of the Ram, police said.
Upon impact, the Ram then collided with a 2026 BMW SUV. The SUV was driven by Jennifer Gonzalez, 37, of Apple Valley, who had three passengers with her in the vehicle.
Paramedics from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District provided ambulances to transport Gonzalez and all three passengers from the BMW SUV to the hospital with complaints of pain.
It’s unknown at this time if anyone else was injured or treated for pain.
Witnesses are asked to contact the Apple Valley Police Station at (760) 240-7400 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
