3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99, Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced

MERCED, Calif. (July 20, 2026) — A three-vehicle crash on Highway 99 happened Monday near Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced, according to California Highway Patrol incident information.

The collision was reported on July 20th at approximately 12:24 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 just north of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The CHP reported that the crash involved a black Volkswagen sedan, a red Scion, and a gray SUV.

Both southbound lanes were initially blocked following the collision. Emergency crews, including fire personnel and American Medical Response, were dispatched to the scene.

CHP later reported that at least one person required medical attention, and the incident was reclassified as a traffic collision involving minor injuries.

The southbound on-ramp from the right side was temporarily closed while crews worked at the scene. Several tow companies were requested to remove the damaged vehicles.

The roadway and on-ramp were later reopened, and the incident was cleared.

The circumstances leading to the crash were not immediately available.
