Multi-Vehicle Car Accident on Highway 92
HAYWARD, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2023) — Three vehicles were involved in a crash on the westbound State Route Highway 92, just east of the toll plaza at the entrance to the San Mateo Bridge in Hayward.
The collision occurred at around 6:25 a.m. on Oct. 10th, just east of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Toll Plaza, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch. It was the first of two collisions in the same area just a few hours apart. A second happened around 9:15 a.m. and also involved three motorists.
The early crash resulted in two of the three vehicles in a ditch, the report said. The drivers of a black SUV, a black Honda and a purple Dodge Caravan were involved.
One of the motorists rear-ended the Black Honda, leaving it with major rear-end damage. Police issued a SigAlert due to several lanes being blocked by vehicles. Also, paramedics responded to help at least one person with possible major injuries, the report said.
It’s unknown what led up to the collision, however, police are piecing together statements from those involved and reviewing evidence. Meanwhile, tow trucks removed all three vehicles from the roadway.
There is no further information about the second collision at this time.
Both collisions on state route 92 in Hayward remain under investigation.
