Fourth of July Bicycle Accident on First Street in Coronado
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, California (July 6, 2020) – A driver experiencing a medical emergency struck four bicyclists in a Fourth of July crash on First Street in Coronado.
The driver struck the bicycle riders about 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in the 800 block of First Street, according to NBC San Diego.
Coronado police and paramedics responded to the crash scene where they found two men and two women cyclists who were injured.
The 50-year-old man driving the car remained on scene and was unresponsive for a short time afterwards.
Both the driver and one other cyclists declined additional medical treatment.
However, the three other bicyclists were transported by ambulances to a San Diego hospital with minor to serious injuries, police said.
The medical issue experienced by the driver was not disclosed. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
