Violent Crash into Homeless Encampment on South Virgil Avenue
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2021) – A driver crashed onto a sidewalk and drove through a homeless encampment Tuesday morning leaving four people injured in the Koreatown area.
Furthermore, the violent crash happened about 6 a.m. in the 500 block of South Virgil Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and KTLA News. A white Dodge Dart and a Toyota Corolla collided. A man driving a white sedan was allegedly speeding down Virgil Avenue before it struck the Toyota and veered up onto the sidewalk in front of a medical building.
Homeless Man Critically Injured in Crash on Virgil Ave
One man sleeping in the encampment was badly hurt after becoming trapped underneath the white sedan. Firefighters responded and extricated the person before they transported him to a hospital. Also, paramedics transported three others who were riding in the Dodge Dart to a hospital with minor injuries.
Also, the man hit by the car suffered severe injuries, fire officials said.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash into the Koreatown homeless encampment.
