The accident took place just before 5 a.m. on the 5 Freeway at Milham Avenue.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason the semi-truck collided with the back of the Greyhound bus. The bus swerved onto a dirt shoulder and ended up on an embankment while the big rig overturned onto its side.
The operator of the truck, the bus driver and two passengers, a 27-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl, were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the bus was en route to San Francisco with 44 passengers when the wreck occurred. About 20 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled following the crash.
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to have played a role in the incident which is still under investigation.
