The incident took place at roughly 8:00 p.m. involving a Kia Soul and a Ford Explorer.
The article included that the driver of the Kia was heading northbound along Camino Del Mar before crashing into the Explorer which according to witnesses, made a left turn against a red light causing the crash.
The collision triggered the Kia Soul to become engulfed in flames. Although injured, all parties inside were able to remove themselves from the vehicle.
The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old man, and his front seat passenger were both transported to Scripps La Jolla’s trauma unit with serious injuries.
Both back seat passenger of the Kia were also seriously injured and rushed to Sharp Memorial.
All four victims are expected to survive and recover from their injuries.
Per NBC News San Diego, neither drugs nor alcohol appears to have been a factor after police officials finished their preliminary investigation.
