 4 Killed in Brawley Crash Cattle Call Drive at Cattle Call Park

Fiery Crash into Tree at Cattle Call Drive in Brawley

BRAWLEY, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2024) – Four Brawley Union High School students were killed early Monday morning in a solo-vehicle crash on Cattle Call Drive in Brawley.

The fiery crash occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 8th, near Cattle Call Park, according to the Brawley Police Department.

The Brawley police and fire department responded and found a car that crashed into a tree and caught engulfed in flames with four people inside of it. All four people were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Imperial County Coroner’s Office has not officially identified the victims, but at least two were from Brawley Union High School. Also, one news organization reported the names and GoFundMe pages for several of the victims identified in the community.

They were identified as Angelina Martinez, Amberly Vasquez, Aaden-Ray Richards, and Siara Reign Sanchez.

The California Highway Patrol and Brawley police are investigating whether the vehicle came down the side of the hill from Cotton Rosser Drive, according to news reports. Police placed orange traffic cones and caution tape leading down the hill and ending at the location where the vehicle came to a rest.

Imperial County Traffic Statistics

There were 636 injury and fatality collisions in Imperial County in 2020, according to the most recent statistics compiled by the Office of Traffic Safety. Also, 70 of these collisions involved alcohol and 108 were speed related, the report said. The county ranks 58th among 58 similar sized counties in California for it’s number of traffic injuries and fatalities.

Furthermore, the report states that 26 of the injury or fatality collisions involved a motorcyclist and 32 involved a pedestrian.
