DUI Suspect Faces 4 Counts of Murder
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2025) – Four people died in a crash at North Floyd and West Shaw avenues Friday in Biola, Fresno County.
It happened around 10:35 p.m. on Jan. 10th, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Dept.
Two people survived the collision including a driver who is accused of being drunk and faces four counts of murder, according to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office.
Sean Allen Larry Guynes, 32, of Kerman, was driving his Ford E350 van southbound on North Floyd Avenue, the report said.
Upon reaching the intersection with West Shaw Avenue, he allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic and drove into the path of a westbound Nissan Altima.
Both of the vehicles erupted in flames and two people from each vehicle suffered fatal injuries including the driver of the Nissan.
UPDATE: Two of the victims from the Nissan were identified as cousins, 20-year-old Sandy J. Carmona Rodriguez and 18-year-old Luis Antonio Carmona Rodriguez. They both have Gofundme accounts to cover funeral costs for their families.
Initially, the driver of the Ford van reportedly gave false information to authorities when he told them he was a passenger in his van.
The California Highway Patrol reported he was intoxicated and also he had a previous DUI in 2018 in Fresno County.
The district attorney is now charging the suspect with four counts of murder as well as one count of failure to perform a duty following a fatal collision and driving on a suspended license from a prior DUI conviction and causing injury.
The suspect could face up to 64 years to life in state prison if he is convicted on all charges, according to the DA’s Office.
